Vehicle Fire Leads to Drug Arrests in Spencer

Two men were arrested on drug-related charges in Spencer following a report of a vehicle on fire.

The Spencer Police Department responded to the vehicle fire at 503 East 9th Street shortly after 6:10pm Tuesday. Upon arrival and after contacting the homeowner, officers detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the residence. A search warrant was obtained and executed which led to the discovery of marijuana, methamphetamine, THC vapes, paraphernalia, and cash.

56-year-old Kelly Versluis of Spencer (pictured left) was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver Marijuana and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, both class D felonies…Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor…and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

55-year-old Gordon Foreman of Spencer (pictured right) was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd of Subsequent Offense Methamphetamine, a class D felony.

Versluis and Foreman were booked into the Clay County Jail. The Spencer Fire Department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department provided assistance.
