Vehicle Considered a Total Loss After it was Found in a Beanfield in Clay County

A vehicle was totaled in an accident in Clay County earlier this week.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 6:30am on Monday of this week, the department was made aware of a red vehicle in the 27 hundred mile of 300th Street that was on its passenger side in a bean field. Upon investigation at the scene, the sheriff’s office found the red 2007 Saturn Vue SUV had left the roadway sometime in the overnight hours, struck the ditch, and came to rest in the bean field on the passenger side. The driver was not present, and the sheriff’s office was not made aware of the accident at that time.

The vehicle, registered to Lucas Richardson of Terril, was removed from the field. The vehicle sustained an estimated seven thousand dollars in damage, and is considered a total loss. An investigation into the accident is ongoing, and charges are pending.
