The fundraising campaign for Storm Lake’s Star Spangled Spectacular officially kicks off on Sunday, June 1st, as volunteers reach out to the community to help fund one of Northwest Iowa’s most anticipated Independence Day celebrations.
This annual tradition draws thousands to the lakeshore for a full lineup of family-friendly events, live entertainment, and the signature fireworks show. Organizers are now calling on local supporters to help keep the celebration strong.
Fundraising co-chairs Josh Newhouse and Matt Brostad will be mailing more than 700 letters to past donors and new prospects in hopes of matching—or exceeding—last year’s fundraising totals. This year’s goal is to raise $45,000 to ensure the continued success and growth of the event.
“We’re proud of what this event brings to Storm Lake each year,” said Brostad. “It’s more than just fireworks and parades—it’s a celebration of our community spirit. With the public’s support, we can continue to grow and improve the experience for everyone.”
This year, contributing is easier than ever. In addition to mailing a check, supporters can now use Venmo. Simply open the Venmo app, search Star Spangled Spectacular under businesses, and look for the official logo.
