Teen Charged With Attempted Murder in Sac County Wants Trial Moved to Juvenile Court

A teenager accused of attempted murder in Sac County has requested to have his trial moved to juvenile court.

According to court documents, the defense attorney for 16-year-old Keegan Kennedy of Jefferson filed a request on Wednesday of this week due to Kennedy’s mental health issues. The Sac County juvenile report officer must provide a report at a hearing scheduled for Monday, July 7th at the Sac County Courthouse.

Kennedy is charged with one count of Attempted Murder and one count of Willful Injury in connection with an incident that happened on May 4th a few miles east of Lake View. Kennedy and the victim were passengers in a vehicle and got into an argument. Kennedy allegedly took out a firearm and shot the victim in the face near 330th Street and Highway 71.

Kennedy was arrested on May 7th.
