The deaths of two individuals in rural Manson are believed to be drug-related.
According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, the department was called to 32351 590th Street shortly before 8:30am Monday. Deputies confirmed there were two deceased individuals inside the residence, identified as 61-year-old Lynnette Walstrom and 52-year-old Jeremy Schuttler, both of rural Manson. The Palmer Fire Department tested for carbon monoxide, but none was present.
Various drug-related items were located. Preliminary tests confirm the presence of fentanyl and other items. The deaths are believed to be drug-related pending toxicology results at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Palmer and Gilmore City First Responders, the Palmer Fire Department, Pocahontas Ambulance, Gunderson Funeral Home, and the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office.
