One Hundred People Who Care Sac County has awarded more than $3,400 to support a new emergency call button system at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake.
Members selected the project during their quarterly meeting on July 12, choosing it from three nominated charities and nonprofits serving Sac County. The donation will be directed through the Wall Lake Lions Club, which is helping fund the upgrade.
The group, made up of individuals and teams who each commit $100 per quarter, pools contributions and votes on a single recipient at each meeting. Since its founding, 100 People Who Care Sac County has supported a wide range of local projects — from fire departments and libraries to food pantries, veterans memorials, youth programs and community facility improvements.
The organization’s mission is to direct grassroots giving toward projects that make an immediate impact in Sac County. Members nominate potential recipients, three are randomly selected to present and the group votes on the final award. The next meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at Early United Methodist Church.
