A local resident is being inducted into the Iowa Latino Hall of Fame.
Emelia Marroquin of Storm Lake is one of six new members that will be inducted later this year…(audio clip below :35 )
Marroquin works with the Iowa Department of Education’s Migrant Education Program, providing assistance for migrant families that come to Storm Lake and the surrounding area…(audio clip below :21 )
Marroquin is also a member of the local SALUD Multicultural Group. She was born in San Salvador, El Salvador.
The Iowa Latino Hall of Fame was established by the Iowa Commission of Latino Affairs to recognize, honor, and celebrate the efforts of outstanding Latino leaders and community advocates. Marroquin will be inducted on Saturday, October 15th at 5:30pm at the Des Moines Art Center. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
