Storm Lake Woman Receives Prison Sentence for Methamphetamine Delivery

A Storm Lake woman, who was arrested a year ago following an investigation into illegal drug sales, was sentenced this week in Buena Vista County District Court to serve up ten years in prison.

41-year-old Alma Thirkettle pleaded guilty back in January for Delivery of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, a class C felony.

Thirkettle was arrested by Storm Lake Police on March 7th of last year in the 300 block of West Milwaukee Avenue. She was wanted on a Buena Vista County warrant charging her with two counts of a Controlled Substance Violation, a class C felony…and two counts of Controlled Substance Violation, a class B felony. The warrants were the result of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug sales conducted by the Storm Lake Police Department since the fall of 2021.

The case was investigated by Storm Lake Police and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, with assistance provided by the Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office.
