A Storm Lake woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing police following a shoplifting incident at Walmart.
The evening of Saturday, Oct. 11, the Storm Lake Police Department was called to Walmart in Storm Lake for a report of a female suspect stealing roughly $200 worth of merchandise.
Store staff told officers the woman—later identified as 46-year-old Keomanivanh Senesoury Navongsa—ran from the store on foot. Police pursued her through the parking lot, where she entered a vehicle and fled the area at high speed.
Authorities say Navongsa drove recklessly before losing control and crashing into a cornfield near 110th Avenue and 580th Street. She then allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate her that night.
Five days later, on Thursday, Oct. 16, police found Navongsa at a residence on Hickory Street and took her into custody without incident. She faces seven charges, including eluding, theft in the fifth degree, interference with official acts, and multiple traffic violations.
Navongsa was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,287 bond. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case.
