Mandatory water conservation measures will remain in place for users of the Storm Lake water system for the foreseeable future.
The City of Storm Lake put the measures in place last month. The water conservation measures are due to extreme hot and dry conditions, and capacity limitations on wells, the treatment system, and storage.
The mandate states that…lawns and trees should not be watered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cars should not be washed at homes, pools shouldn’t be filled, and driveways shouldn’t be washed down. On the other days of the week, watering should be done before 9am or after 6pm.
Flowers or vegetable gardens may be watered as needed, but the City asks residents to use a hose with a nozzle or a watering can.
If a power washing project is necessary, contact Storm Lake City Hall to scheduled a non-peak time.
