Storm Lake Water Conservation Measures Lifted

Mayor Mike Porsch announced at today’s (Mon) Storm Lake City Council meeting that water conservation measures for users of the City’s water system have been lifted…(audio clip below)

Porsch thanked residents for following the measures that had been in place most of the summer.

The water conservation guidelines were approved by the council back on July 1st due to high usage during the hot, dry conditions. Water usage reached a crisis level of five-million gallons daily prior to the measures being implemented.

Conservation measures were also necessary due to a major water supply well being offline, but the well has now returned to service. The City of Storm Lake has been working to locate additional well sites to address future needs. Earlier this month, the council approved the purchase of a site on Mae Street to construct a new water tower.
