Iowa Harvest Has Begun

Row crop harvest has gotten underway in Iowa, as two-percent of the state’s corn crop has been harvested.

Producers have also been preparing equipment and bins for harvest. The report released today (Mon) by the U.S. Department of Agriculture says other fieldwork for the week ending Sunday included chopping silage, cutting hay, and seeding cover crops.

Corn rated good to excellent is up slightly to 64-percent, while good to excellent soybeans held steady at 63-percent.

In northwest Iowa, 64-percent of topsoil is either short or very short of moisture, and that is down four-percent from the previous week.
