A Storm Lake Police Officer has been promoted to Lieutenant within the department.
A ceremonial pinning was held at the police station this week for the now Lieutenant Alyssa Solem. Police Chief Chris Cole presented Solem with her lieutenant’s badge. (The two are pictured above)
Solem is a Storm Lake High School graduate, and also a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University. She joined the City of Storm Lake staff as a park ranger in 2014, and became a police officer in 2015. Solem was honored as the Storm Lake Police Department Officer of the Year in 2020.
Solem has been part of the police department’s narcotics unit and a member of their Sexual Assault Response Team. She is also a certified drug recognition specialist, and has organized the National Night Out annual program.
