Storm Lake Hosting Free Tree Day in Early November

Storm Lake is going green in part of the city’s Sesquicentennial celebration next week.

The City of Storm Lake will be hosting a Free Tree Day on Thursday, November 2nd from 4-7pm in the parking lot at the Sunrise Pointe Golf Course. The City will give out 150 young trees for free on a first come first served basis.

When planting trees, the City asks that they not be planted between the sidewalk and street as the trees can interfere with utility lines below ground. The City of Storm Lake is using this Free Tree Day as a way to celebrate the community’s anniversary while also restoring the loss of many ash trees in the area due to the emerald ash borer infestation.

Earlier this year, Storm Lake already assisted with Alliant Energy’s One Million Trees Initiative. Again, the Free Tree Day takes place on Thursday, November 2nd.
