A reminder that a City-Wide Clean Up is being held this weekend as part of Storm Lake Proud Beautification Month.
Storm Lake residents will be able to drop off unwanted household items at the Public Services Shop at 433 Vilas Road on Saturday from 8:30am to noon. There will be a five-dollar charge per load. Proceeds will be donated to Upper Des Moines Opportunity. Furniture, push mowers, car batteries, grills, carpeting, electronics, appliances, plastic goods, personal vehicle tires not mounted on rims, and other bulky home items will be accepted.
Storm Lake city leaders hope to offer a second City-Wide Clean-Up event in the fall.
Those who are interested in volunteering in a Storm Lake Proud Beautification Month project this month or any time can contact City Hall. A One-Bag Challenge is also being offered this month for those who might not be able to take on a larger project. Individuals are challenged to fill one large trash bag during the month with trash or refuse from any of the public areas in the community. Bags are available at City Hall.
