The Newell-Fonda girls golf team qualified for the 1A State Tournament for the 4th year in a row shooting a 397 in their 2nd round regional tournament that was hosted by CAM.
Grace Erickson shot 89, Emma Hurd 101, Macy Demey 102, and Jaicee Vanderhoff a 105 as the Mustangs finished 2nd behind BCLUW’s 378. The Mustagns Rowyn Nielsen shot a 112 and April Meyer a 126.
At the BVU golf course at Lake Creek the Alta-Aurelia girls team placed 4th with a 421. The Warriors Maggie Bloom (93) and Avery Westphal (97) advanced to the State Tourney thanks to their top six finish. The 1A girls state tournament will be May 23-24 in Marshalltown.
In class 2A, the East Sac County girls team placed 4th at Carroll with a 398. Pocahontas Area’s Nicole Panbecker qualified for the state tourney thanks to her 87 at Emmetsburg.
Storm Lake shot a 426 at Briggs Woods in a 3A regional tournament and did not qualify anyone for state.
