Storm Lake City Council Approves Memorial Road Project

The Storm Lake City Council on Monday approved a Memorial Road street and utilities improvements project related to the construction of a new Quik Star convenience store in the southeast part of town.

City of Storm Lake Development Services Specialist Lee Dutfield said the store is expected to significantly increase vehicle traffic within the Memorial Road corridor, particularly at and north of its intersection with Lakeshore Drive…

The cost of the project is estimated at 2.7 million dollars. No comments were made at a public hearing prior to the council approving the project.

Dutfield anticipates more meetings will be held with affected property owners as the project progresses.

The new Kwik Star store is expected to open sometime next year.
