Local state senator Lynn Evans has launched an exploratory committee to consider running to represent the 4th District of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives.
As part of a statement released earlier today (Sat), Evans, a Republican, said he’ll be traveling across the district over the next several weeks to determine the best path forward.
Evans, who resides in Aurelia, has been a state senator since 2023. He’s spent several years in education, including as superintendent at Alta Aurelia. He’s currently a professor at Buena Vista University. Evans, the District 3 State Senator, currently represents Buena Vista, Osceola, and O’Brien counties, and parts of Cherokee and Clay counties in the State Senate.
Current 4th District representative Randy Feenstra last week announced that he’s running for governor of Iowa.
Evans’ full statement can be read below…
“After thoughtful prayer, conversations with my family, and encouragement from supporters across the district, I’m excited to share that I am officially launching an exploratory committee to consider a run for Congress in Iowa’s Fourth District.
As a lifelong Iowan, an educator, and now a State Senator, I’ve dedicated my life to serving the people of this great state. In the Iowa Senate, I’ve worked hard to protect rural values, defend our freedoms, and bring common-sense leadership to tough issues like education, tax relief, and government overreach.
Now, I’m exploring how I can serve Iowa on a larger scale—bringing true conservative leadership to Washington and giving rural Iowa a strong, principled voice in Congress.
Over the next several weeks, I’ll be traveling across the district, listening to you, and determining the best path forward. I’m incredibly grateful for your continued support and prayers.”
