State Audit Report Released on Pocahontas County

State Auditor Rob Sand today (Thur) released an audit report on Pocahontas County.

According to the report, Pocahontas County’s revenues for the year ended June 30th, 2023 totaled 18.6 million dollars, an increase of 23 percent. Expenses for county operations totaled 16.1 million dollars, a 19.7 percent increase. The significant rise in revenues and expenses is primarily due to costs related to drainage district and secondary road projects.

Sand reported four findings related to the receipt and expenditure of taxpayer funds. The findings address issues such as lack of segregation of duties, accounts receivable, and capital asset additions not properly recorded in the county’s financial statements and questionable disbursements. Sand provided Pocahontas County with recommendations to address each of the findings.
