Spencer Man Sentenced to Federal Prison on Drug Charge

A Spencer man was sentenced Wednesday on a federal drug charge, and will spend over 13 years in prison.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 57-year-old Todd Williams pleaded guilty on November 1st of last year for Possession With Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.

A search warrant executed on Williams’ residence in Spencer resulted in the seizure of nearly 2.7 pounds of methamphetamine and about $50,000 in cash. Williams wasn’t home at the time, but officers saw him driving by. They tried to stop Williams, but he led them on a pursuit at speeds of up to 100 miles-per-hour before being pulled over and arrested.

Williams had previously been convicted of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine in 2004.
