A Spencer man faces up to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty Friday in Sioux City Federal Court to Possession With Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
Evidence at the plea hearing showed that on August 26th of last year, law enforcement searched a camper in Spencer where Halbur was known to reside and store items. 45 grams of pure methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, 29 hundred dollars in cash, and other items pertaining to drug use and distribution were located inside the camper. Halbur admitted the meth was his, and that he intended to distribute some or all of the methamphetamine.
Sentencing will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Halbur remains in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. Along with up to 20 years in prison, Halbur faces up to a million dollar fine, and at least three years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Spencer Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa DCI Laboratory.
