Drought conditions have improved in much of northwest Iowa.
The latest Iowa Drought Monitor map shows that almost all of Buena Vista County is Abnormally Dry, which is the lowest level of drought intensity. All of Calhoun, Sac, Ida, and Pocahontas counties are Abnormally Dry. Moderate Drought is showing up in parts of Cherokee, Clay, and Palo Alto counties. All of O’Brien County is experiencing Moderate Drought.
79 percent of the state is at least Abnormally Dry, which is virtually the same as last week. A little over two-thirds of the state has Moderate Drought, down over 20 percent from last week. None of Iowa is dealing with any more severe level of dryness.
