Special Arrangements Lined up for Funeral of Former Storm Lake Fire Chief ; Traffic May be Affected

Special arrangements are set to take place tomorrow (Sat) for the funeral of former Storm Lake Fire Chief Ron Wilson, which could have a brief impact on traffic.

According to a news release from the City, beginning at 9am tomorrow (Sat), Storm Lake’s aerial fire truck will be stationed on Cayuga Street, and a fire truck from Odebolt will be stationed across the way on Chautauqua Park Drive. The trucks will display a flag over Lakeshore Drive. Lakeshore Drive will remain open to traffic, but the accesses from Lakeshore and Chautauqua Park Drive will be blocked during that time.

Wilson’s funeral is set for 10:30 tomorrow (Sat) morning at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Various fire rigs will be parked in the West 5th Street area in front of the church, and will wrap around the corner onto Angier Drive if necessary. After the funeral, the fire vehicles will take part in the procession on 5th Street, onto Lakeshore Drive to the cemetery, and they will be stationed along Lakeshore Drive.

The City of Storm Lake asks the public to travel with extra care in these areas tomorrow (Sat) morning.

Ron Wilson passed away at his Richfield, Minnesota residence on February 21st at the age of 81. He served as the Storm Lake Fire Chief from 1971 to 1999.
