Sioux Rapids Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Traffic Stop

A Sioux Rapids man was arrested last week on drug-related charges.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, during the evening of last Tuesday, February 21st, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 44-hundred mile of Highway 71. The driver was identified as 39-year-old San Juan Tomas Alberto Castro. The deputy smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. An investigation led to the discovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Castro was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana 2nd Offense, a serious misdemeanor…and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Insurance, both simple misdemeanors. He was booked into the Clay County Jail, and was released after posting bond.
