Seventeen Sioux Central FFA members attended the Iowa State FFA Convention in Ames April 19–21, taking part in competitions, service activities and leadership sessions while exploring the Iowa State University campus.
Three members — Karina Bloom, Emmalee Thompson and Andrew Nelson — received their Iowa FFA Degrees, one of the organization’s highest honors at the state level.
Students also participated in a range of events throughout the week. Hanna Weier, McKenna Fassler and Emma Unger competed in the biotechnology category. Kayley Hermstad, Violet Sangwin, Nevaeh Brauhn and Karina Bloom took part in agricultural communications. Annabelle Christensen and Micheal Balder served as chapter delegates during the business session. Kooper Bean, Issac Nelson, Andrew Nelson and Tegan Thompson competed in the poultry contest.
In addition to competitions, Isabella Holt performed with the state FFA choir, and Hunter Perry played percussion in the state FFA band.
