Sac County Sheriff Announces Retirement

Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure this (Tues) morning announced that he’s retiring late next month.

Below are comments from McClure regarding the decision…

“After 37 years of service in law enforcement, it is with a mixture of gratitude and reflection that I announce my retirement effective June 26, 2025. Serving Sac County and its communities has been the honor of a lifetime. I am incredibly proud of the work we have done together and the progress we have made.

Throughout these years, I have witnessed firsthand the strength, resilience, and generosity of the people of Sac County. Your unwavering support of the Sac County Sheriff’s Office has been the foundation of everything we’ve accomplished. For that, I offer my deepest thanks.

As I step away from my role, I want to assure you that I am committed to a smooth and seamless transition. I will work closely with incoming leadership to ensure that the high standards of service and integrity you have come to expect will continue uninterrupted.

While my retirement marks the end of one chapter, our county still faces pressing challenges—most notably, the urgent need to replace our nearly 90-year-old jail facility. It is critical that we come together as a community to address this issue. A safe, secure, and modern facility is essential for public safety, the well-being of our staff, and the effective administration of justice in Sac County.

Though I will no longer be wearing the badge, I remain committed to the future of this community and will continue to support the work of the Sheriff’s Office in any way I can.

Thank you again for the trust and support you’ve shown me over the years. It has truly been an honor to serve you.”

A replacement for McClure hasn’t been announced.
