Pizza Hut is going retro — and two area locations are on the list.
The company’s parent, Yum! Brands, has confirmed that several Iowa restaurants, including Storm Lake and Cherokee, are being designated as “Pizza Hut Classic” locations. That means a full return to the chain’s 1990s dine‑in style: the red plastic cups, checkered tablecloths, vinyl booths, Tiffany‑style lamps and even arcade games. The familiar red‑roof look is also part of the redesign.
Storm Lake’s Classic location is at 115 East Milwaukee Ave. Cherokee’s is at 1014 North Second St. Other Iowa towns on the list include Estherville, Sioux Center, Sibley, Perry, Fort Madison, Osceola and Bloomfield.
Nationwide, about 155 restaurants have been tagged as Classic locations. One franchise owner with 38 of them says another conversion is planned this summer, with a dozen more under review — a sign the company expects strong demand for the nostalgic experience.
Pizza Hut hasn’t released a timeline for when each Iowa restaurant will complete its makeover, but the chain says customers can expect the same menu while the retro look rolls out. The company is also tying the throwback theme to its BOOK IT! summer reading program, which again will offer free pizza rewards for kids.
