Storm Lake Schools to Offer Free Summer Meals at Multiple Sites

The Storm Lake Community School District will again participate in the Summer Food Service Program, offering free meals to all children throughout June, July and mid‑August.

District officials say meals are available at no charge to anyone 18 and under. All meals are provided on an equal basis, with no discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), age or disability.

June 1–25: Congregate Meal Sites

Meals must be eaten on‑site at the following locations, Mondays through Thursdays:

  • Storm Lake Middle School, 1811 Hyland Dr.
    • Breakfast: 8:00–8:30 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
  • Storm Lake High School, 621 Tornado Dr.
    • Lunch: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

June 29–August 16: Non‑Congregate Meal Sites

Meals may be taken off‑site during this portion of the program. Service runs Mondays through Thursdays, with Friday–Sunday meals distributed on Thursdays. Breakfast and lunch will be provided as sack meals at the following locations and times:

  • Storm Lake Middle School – 11:00–11:30 a.m.
  • Storm Lake High School – 11:00–11:30 a.m.
  • South School Apartments, 316 Cayuga St. – 11:00–11:20 a.m.
  • West Ninth Street Park, 607 W. 9th St. – 11:00–11:20 a.m.
  • Tulip Lane Apartments, 1716 Tulip Ln. – 11:00–11:20 a.m.
  • Lakeside City Hall, 203 Lakeshore Dr., Lakeside – 11:30–11:50 a.m.
  • Seneca Place Apartments, 1409 Seneca St. – 11:30–11:50 a.m.
  • Park Street Bus Stop, 1100–1198 Park St. – 11:30–11:50 a.m.
  • Sunset Park, 315 W. Lakeshore Dr. – 12:00–12:20 p.m.

The district encourages families to take advantage of the program as a way to support children’s nutrition during the summer months.
