Over 90 Blood Units Collected at Storm Lake LifeServe Blood Drives in April

A total of 93 units of blood were collected at two LifeServe Blood Center drives in Storm Lake earlier this month.

The amount of blood donated has the ability to save up to 279 local lives. The blood drives were hosted to support the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and over 130 other hospitals served by LifeServe.

Several local donors hit milestones with their most recent donation. Adam Cook reached seven gallons of blood donated…Donna Hanson five gallons…Audrey Wiley four gallons…Brayden Bergum three gallons…Amy Lesemann, Steven Mills, and Sarah Low all reached two gallons…and Cory Gatzemeyer, Stacy Meyer, Robert Arends, and Pamela Mills all reached one gallon of blood donated.

Blood drives scheduled in Storm Lake next month include on Tuesday, May 2nd from 12:30 to 5:30pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church…and Friday, May 19th from 9am to 1pm at the United Methodist Church. A private blood drive will be held on May 17th at the Storm Lake High School.
