One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident yesterday (Tues) afternoon in Storm Lake.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, the accident happened at approximately 12:35pm Tuesday at the intersection of East Lakeshore Drive and Flindt Drive. Authorities found two vehicles disabled in the travel portion of the roadway. Police allege that an SUV driven by Esther Haahr of Newell was traveling east on East Lakeshore Drive. Haahr failed to yield upon turning, and struck a pickup truck driven by Maria Lopez Maldonado of Storm Lake.
Haahr reported injuries related to the accident, and was transported by ambulance to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment. Haahr was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Upon a Left Turn, a simple misdemeanor.
The Storm Lake Fire Department, BVRMC Ambulance, and Rice Towing also responded to the scene.
