Missing Calhoun County Man Found Dead

A Rockwell City man who was reported missing a month ago has been found dead.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the department received a call at 1710 230th Street in Jolley at around 1:35 this (Fri) afternoon. Upon arrival, 54-year-old Mark Riesberg was discovered dead in his Chrysler PT Cruiser in a wooded abandoned property. Preliminary indication is that the death was caused by a single gunshot wound.

Foul play is not suspected in Riesberg’s death. His body has been sent to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.

Riesberg was reported missing on November 1st. He was last heard from on October 28th.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted during the initial response by the Calhoun County EMS and the United Cajun Navy group.
