Man Dies From ATV vs Car Crash in Calhoun County

A Manson man died as a result of a two-vehicle accident in Calhoun County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened shortly after 3:30 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 20 and Zearing Avenue. 84-year-old Michael Leith of Manson was driving an ATV north on Zearing Avenue. Leith failed to yield to the right of way and collided with a 2007 Ford Taurus traveling east on Highway 20, which was driven by 88-year-old William Peterson of Moorland. Both vehicles came to rest in the median east of the intersection.

Leith died due to the crash, while Peterson was injured. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Calhoun County Medical Examiner.

State Climatologist Justin Glisan  says April brought the showers the state needs. “We’re actually about eight-tenths of an inch above average
