Rainfall at the end of last week and early this week has resulted in less drought showing up in the state.
The Iowa Drought Monitor map released this (Thur) morning shows nearly 47 percent of the state has no drought, up from 39 percent last week. Data on the map is valid through 7am Tuesday.
Moderate drought is down two-tenths of a percent at 6.8 percent across the state. Much of that continues to be in far northwest Iowa including most of O’Brien County, and smaller portions of Clay and Cherokee.
The northwest part of Buena Vista County continues to be abnormally dry.
