Iowa Drought Continues to Expand

A couple levels of drought in Iowa are up again this week.

According to the newly released Drought Monitor, Severe Drought, which includes portions of Buena Vista and surrounding counties, has risen by more than three-percent to over 19-percent this week statewide. Moderate Drought has increased by a little more than one-percent to a bit more than 40-percent. The percentage of the state that’s at least Abnormally Dry did decline by about 2.5-percent to just over 62-percent.

Extreme Drought remains the same with parts of five counties affected, including Cherokee.
