Storm Lake Boys Soccer advances to the 3A-1 Substate Final after a 2-1 overtime win at Denison-Schleswig

The Storm Lake Tornado Boys Soccer team upset the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs 2-1 in Overtime

The Monarchs would strike in the first 5 minutes to take the early 1-0 lead. The Tornadoes would find the equalizer when Raymond Hernandez scored his 13th goal of the season with 21:59 to go in the half. The teams would go to the halftime break tied at 1. The second half saw the teams go back and forth and the Tornadoes would play stellar defense as the game went to overtime at 1. The Tornadoes would score the game-winner just 39 seconds into overtime when David Monejano scored his 2nd of the season.

With the win the Tornadoes improve to 6-7 and advance to play the winner of LeMars/Spencer on Wednesday night, the loss ends the Monarch’s season at 9-6
