The entire state is under an Extreme Heat Watch this weekend.
An Extreme Heat Watch for the Storm Lake area is in effect starting at 11am tomorrow (Fri) until 9pm Sunday. Dangerously hot conditions are forecast. The temperature is expected to reach the mid to upper 90’s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It’s expected to be breezy all of those days as well. Heat index values could get as high as 107.
Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. The National Weather Service advises citizens to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
