The City of Storm Lake offers economic development services through their economic development department.
Storm Lake Economic Development is responsible for encouraging business investment opportunities and supporting business retention and attraction in the community. The department is available to assist both new and existing businesses. With the support of elected officials and partner organizations, Storm Lake Economic Development strives to guide and support growth and maintain a healthy economy. Development Services Specialist Lee Dutfield is available to assist the business community with the appropriate tools and resources to grow and expand.

The economic health of Storm Lake depends on ample employment and business opportunities for all. “Our development efforts promote and support diversity and inclusivity in our workplace and growing community,” Dutfield said.
Many business-related tools are available on the new City of Storm Lake’s website, which was launched earlier this month, at www.stormlake.org. Tools include ADA for Business Owners information, business training and assistance links, succession planning, Shop Iowa marketing access, grant and loan information, workforce and site selection analysis, webinar and workshop listings, as well as a “Starting a Business” page to help prospective and entrepreneurs with navigating permit, license, and zone regulation.
