Governor Kim Reynolds on Tuesday appointed a new district associate judge in an area judicial election district.
Hunter Thorpe was appointed district associate judge in Judicial Election District 2B which serves counties including Calhoun, Pocahontas, and Sac. Thorpe fills a vacancy created following the retirement of Steven Van Marel.
Thorpe resides in Ankeny, and is an assistant county attorney at the Boone County Attorney’s Office. He received an undergraduate degree from Central College and his law degree from Drake Law School.
