The amount of soybeans harvested in northwest Iowa and statewide more than doubled last week, and the corn harvesting process wasn’t far behind.
According to the latest crop progress report for Iowa from the USDA, 60-percent of soybeans in northwest Iowa have been harvested compared to 28-percent a week ago. Soybeans harvested statewide stands at 52-percent. 24-percent of Iowa soybeans were harvested a week ago.
26-percent of northwest Iowa corn has been harvested for grain compared to 15-percent the week prior. 30-percent of corn has been harvested statewide compared to 16-percent a week ago.
47-percent of topsoil in northwest Iowa is short or very short of moisture, the same as a week ago. 69-percent of northwest Iowa subsoil is short or very short of moisture, a four-percent increase from a week ago.
There were slightly over five days suitable for fieldwork in northwest Iowa last week, and nearly six days were suitable statewide.
