Monarchs Oust Storm Lake Baseball Team With Late Rally

Denison-Schleswig sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs in the top of the 7th inning and beat Storm Lake 7-6 Wednesday night in Storm Lake.

The Monarchs had only 3 hits in the game heading into the final inning but they would get three more in the 7th and they took advantage of two errors as they took the lead into the bottom of the 7th inning. The Tornadoes would load the bases in the bottom of the inning but Carson Lullmann flew out to center field to end the game.

Storm Lake scored six runs on ten hits led by Lullmann who went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Luke Richardson also had two hits and Braxton Jensen hit a 2-run triple in a four run 4th inning. Jensen suffered the loss throwing two innings in relief of starter Lullmann who pitched the first five innings, he gave up two earned runs on three hits, he struck out seven and walked six.

The Monarchs are now 2-0 and will play Spencer Monday. Storm Lake is now 1-1 and will host Le Mars Gehlan Monday night.
