City of Storm Lake Hires Contractor to Grind Tree Debris From Recent Storm

The City of Storm Lake has hired a contractor to grind tree debris collected from the April 18th wind storm.

At Monday’s city council meeting, City Manager Keri Navratil said around ten thousand cubic yards of tree debris has been gathered. The contractor, Ceres Environmental Services, is expected to arrive by next Wednesday, May 14th. The process should only take a couple of days. Residents will be able to obtain mulch created from the grinding free of charge at the Discovery Center parking lot.

The cost to grind the material is expected to cost between 50 and 75 thousand dollars.

Navratil said the GoServ Global non-profit that’s been helping in the cleanup process will likely wrap up their work in Storm Lake by this Friday.
