A house in Lakeside suffered extensive damage from a fire early this (Tues) morning.
The Storm Lake Fire Department was dispatched to 237 Elm Street in Lakeside at 5:42 this (Tues) morning. Heavy smoke was emitting from the eaves of the residence. Extensive fire was located in the attic space. The occupants of the residence were able to evacuate safely.
An investigation determined that the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking material. The Alta and Newell fire departments assisted at the scene.
