The City of Storm Lake has declared a Snow Emergency starting this Thursday, March 9th at 10pm, and running through Sunday, March 12th at 6am.
A news release from the city states that the Snow Emergency is based on the weather forecast from the National Weather Service. Forecasted temperatures will likely result in a heavier snow that may require additional time for removal. The Snow Emergency could be lifted early if the snow received is less than forecasted.
A reminder that a few regulations are in effect during a Storm Lake Snow Emergency…
• Parking is NOT ALLOWED on streets in the residential areas of Storm Lake between the hours of 10:00PM and 6:00AM
• Parking is NOT ALLOWED on streets in the Central Business District between the hours of 2:00AM and 6:00AM
• Parking is NOT ALLOWED in downtown public parking lots designated as Lot B and Lot D
Overnight parking in downtown public parking lots designated as Lot A and Lot C is allowed during a snow emergency.
Vehicles found to be in violation of the City’s snow policy may be ticketed and/or towed.
