City Council Approves Mayor’s Civic Leadership Advisory Committee

The Storm Lake City Council has approved the creation of a new mayor’s ad hoc committee aimed at strengthening civic leadership and community engagement.

On Monday night, council members unanimously passed a resolution establishing the Mayor’s Civic Leadership Advisory Committee. The nine-member group will serve staggered three-year terms, with one city staff member appointed by City Manager Keri Navratil as an ex-officio member. Meetings will be held at least quarterly.

Mayor Meg McKeon explained the purpose of the committee before the vote.

The resolution states the committee will provide guidance and suggestions to the mayor to ensure the city remains attentive to residents’ needs, encourages growth, and supports the development of future leaders.

McKeon will serve as chairperson of the committee, which is expected to begin meeting later this year.
