Recovery efforts continue at the Buena Vista County Historical Society after severe weather in the early morning of Friday, April 18th damaged its building in Storm Lake.
Straight-line 70-mile-per-hour wind tore off the roof, and the inside of the building, including some artifacts, sustained water damage. Several bricks were lost off the top southwest corner and the east side of the building. Some of the flooring will need to be replaced. Last Thursday, April 24th, brought heavy rain overnight. The plastic on the roof wasn’t enough to hold back the rain, and water seeped into the main floor again.
