BV County Elections Commissioner Issues Reminder on Absentee Voting for General Election

Buena Vista County Commissioner of Elections Sue Lloyd reminds county residents that October 19th is the first day that absentee ballots can be mailed, or that early voting may done in the auditor’s office.

To receive an absentee ballot by mail, individuals must request an absentee ballot by completing a request form, which can be downloaded at the Secretary of State’s website, or call the BV Auditor’s Office at 749-2542. Send ballots to The Buena Vista County Commissioner of Elections…P.O. Box 220…Storm Lake, IA…50588. Absentee ballots will be mailed for requests received by the Commissioner by 5pm on October 24th.

There will be two locations in the Buena Vista County Courthouse for voting absentee in-person, including on the first floor in the hallway near the east entrance…or in the Auditor’s Office. In-person absentee voting can be done Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. The Auditor’s Office will also be open Saturday, November 5thfrom 9am to 5pm for voting. The deadline for early in-person voting at the BV Courthouse is Monday, November 7th at 4:30pm.

A photo ID is required to vote early in-person or at a precinct on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th.
