Budgets Approved for Storm Lake School District and City of Storm Lake

The Storm Lake School Board yesterday (Wed) adopted the district’s budget for the 2024-2025 school year.

The district’s levy rate remains at $17.17. District leaders previously promised taxpayers that the tax levy would not increase despite passage of the general obligation bond vote for the second phase of the Early Elementary project.

The budget includes a cash reserve levy of $792,000, a one-percent increase in the income surtax rate to six-percent, and an expansion of the At-Risk program to maximum capacity.

Earlier this week, the Storm Lake City Council adopted the city’s budget for fiscal year 2024-2025.

The City’s tax levy will increase 1.4 percent to $13.60. The City of Storm Lake will have a projected budget surplus of 0.4 percent.
