Abnormally Dry Conditions Expand in Latest Iowa Drought Monitor Map

More of the state is now considered to be abnormally dry.

According to the newest Iowa Drought Monitor map, nearly 80 percent of the state is now abnormally dry, compared to nearly 72 percent last week.

The amount of the state in moderate drought decreased slightly to nearly 12.5 percent from over 13 percent last week.

There’s been no change in northwest Iowa as Buena Vista County is still a mix of normal and abnormally dry. A majority of O’Brien County, and smaller portions of Cherokee and Clay are still dealing with moderate drought.

The map was released this (Thur) morning with data valid through 7am Tuesday.
