The Fonda Arts Center welcomes Rowyn and Josh Nielsen to the stage on Sunday, April 26, music starting at 3:00. Rowyn and Josh are a father daughter acoustic duo, and have been playing various venues in Northwest Iowa. They come from a long line of musicians and singers: Rowan’s great aunt Debbie sang opera in Switzerland and is now retired in Austin, Texas. Josh’s parents, Randy and Pam, along with uncle Rick and aunt Diane, were in a band called the “Sharon Oaks Band” that played for decades in the southern Iowa bar and wedding scene. With a guitar always laying around, Josh picked it up and taught himself to play at an early age. He has helped form and played with several bands over the years, including “Third Warning” with Larry Heschke and other talented local musicians. Currently Rowyn Nielsen is in the band “Heritage”, has played Varina’s town celebration with her family, called “The “Nielsensations”, as well as singing at her church and for weddings. Together, Josh and Rowyn play soft rock, pop, classic, and a little bit of country.
All this is happening at the Fonda Arts Center where everyone is always welcome and admission and refreshments are complementary. Located on the Northwest corner of Fourth and Main Streets in Fonda, it offers an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of music in an informal atmosphere. Our stairlift stands ready to assist those who prefer an effortless ride up the steps, and those of you who collect vinyls, both long play albums and 45s, can take advantage of the opportunity to purchase from Jackie Schuttler’s record collection. We hope you can join us!
