Tornadoes Sweep Webster City In A Pair Of Close Games

The Storm Lake softball team plated three runs in the 5th inning and beat Webster City 5-4. Maddy Raveling threw three innings giving up just one run and picked up the win in relief as the Tornadoes improve to 4-0. Lillie Hoffman started the game and pitched four innings giving up three runs. Avery DeHaan had two of Storm Lake’s four hits and drove in a run and Raveling picked up two RBI at the plate. The Tornadoes start Lakes Conference play tonight with a game at Spencer. The varsity game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM KAYL and video streamed at stormlakeradio.com

The Storm Lake baseball team rallied for six runs in the sixth inning turning a 4-1 deficit into a 7-4 lead and they would then hold off the Lynx 7-6. Webster City had the tying run in scoring position but Braxton Jensen would strike out the final batter of the game. Jensen picked up the win (3-0) pitching the final two innings. Carson Lullmann started and allowed two earned runs over five innings of work. The Tornadoes had six hits at the plate with Jake Eddie picking up a pair of doubles. Storm Lake is now 8-2 and starts Lakes Conference play Wednesday night at Spencer. Dud to issues with the lights at the Spencer baseball field the varsity game will be played first at 5pm.
